    The Back Room is located at Glen Echo Park, in Glen Echo Maryland. The room is located directly behind the Spanish Ballroom, which is directly next to the picnic area in the center of the park. Facing the ballroom, turn left and walk to the side of the building where you'll see a couple of stairs, hopefully a stand-up sign, and there is the entrance to the "Back Room." Here is a map:

    Getting to Glen Echo

    By Public Transportation: Glen Echo Park is served by the Route 29 Ride-On bus, which leaves from both the Friendship Heights and Bethesda Metro stations on the Red line. This bus is available weekdays, Saturday, and Sunday. The bus trip from Friendship Heights or Bethesda to Glen Echo takes approximately fifteen minutes and leaves every 30 minutes, on the hour and half hour. Bus fare is $1.10 during peak hours, 90 cents off-peak, and only 25 cent with a metrorail transfer. Be sure to have exact change or don't expect to get any back. The Glen Echo bus stop is located at the Amoco gas station at the end of Goldsboro Road. The stop is lighted and there is a public phone available. From the bus stop it is a 5-minute walk along MacArthur Blvd. to the upper entrance of the park. NOTE: The last bus leaves at 9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday.

    As always, we have a beginner drop-in lesson from 8:15pm to 9:00pm

    This wonderful late night venue is located directly above Union Hardware across the street from a CVS pharmacy. Do NOT park in the CVS parking lot, as they will tow. Parking for the late nights is free on the streets, and there is a parking garage on the opposite corner from DuShor behind the car dealership. This is free as of 10pm on on Friday and Saturday nights.

  • Late nights are always great at this second floor studio in the heart of Bethesda, MD. That's only because dancers like you and me show up and ask each other to dance until we look up and there's someone new. It's 5am and the sun is getting ready to wake up. Even though the party is over the weekend is still just beginning.

    Third year running we've got some catered Rocklands BBQ at this chillaxing park in Arlington. Bring a ball to kick around, or maybe a tight rope to tie between trees and scamper across. Expect water balloons, a cozy space to dance under the pavilion, and some very fun times. As already mentioned their is a water park next door if you need to cool off, but there is an additional charge for getting in there.

  • 1:00pm - 5:00pm — $20

  • Catered BBQ in Upton Hill Park. Bring your bathing suit and towel as it's next to a water park. Bring some games to play, balls to toss, and your appetite. This will be catered by one of our favorite local BBQ places. But don't eat too much because we'll have some good music playing, and you might get a hankering to do some dancing.

  • When normal people hear there will be dancing until 5am (or later), they don't quite get how much fun it is when a good DJ sets the room abuzz. The right DJ will wake you up and make you beg for more even when you know you want to get up for the BBQ competition the next day. It's worth it. You can always sleep when it's actually time to sleep.

  • Chill outdoor dance at Dupont Circle
  • Venue / Directions

  • It's kind of hard to miss Dupont Circle, a snarled traffic circle done up with stop lights. Bustling with cafes, bars, and you name it, it's the major intersection of Connecticut Ave., Massachusetts Ave., New Hampshire Ave., P St., and 19th St in Northwest Washington, D.C. There is a metro stop on the Red Line, and you should be able to figure out your way through crosswalks to the middle of the circle, complete with fountain, where everyone will be sharing the Blues love with the locals.

    It's strongly recommend to take the Metro or carpool because parking can be frustrating around the circle.

  • Dupont Circle is a DC icon and we're excited to have our Memorial Day dance there. Our DJs will spin some fun outdoorsy stuff for the city as it revolves around us in a pretty cool park.

  • The weekend that only gets better steps up its game with Cedric Burnside on Sunday night at DuShor. He's won "Blues Drummer of the Year" in 2011 and 2012 at the Memphis Blues Music Awards. Now he's here inside the DC Beltway, and we can hardly wait to do our happy dance.

  • Sunday Night Houseparty Crawl

  • I know, it's crazy. The houseparty crawl will be held at a dancer house -- The Keep -- near the Georgia Ave. / Petworth metro station. We'll provide more venue details at the event itself rather than putting their address up on the interwebs.

  • 2:00am - 5:00am — $10
  • It was so much fun culminating a night of dancing at the Keep at 5am last year. Anyone who was there remembers the energy was like no other, no matter how many dance house parties you've been to during your travels. We're still ironing out the details and talking with our wonderful locals about doing it again this year -- stay tuned!

Monday

    This is the main event. Vegetarian and Meat divisions will compete for your tastebuds. Food should be ready around 3pm, but stop by early for some fun, games, and dancing. We have the indoors for games and dancing in case it rains, so this event will happen rain or shine.

  • 2:00pm - 9:00pm — $30 (all day); $15 (6:00pm dance)

  • Did someone say brisket, pork ribs, or a vegetarian equivalent (sorry, I'm having a hard time coming up with a proper vegetarian equipment to brisket)? Yes, yes, and yes, please. We'll have a select panel of judges rating food from the dancers, and there will be more than enough to go around for everyone.

    Clarence Turner will start playing at 6:00pm and will close us out till 9pm.

    It's always a little crazy as food comes out in waves, but we've got a plan to make sure there won't be any long waits for food. There will room for a kickball game, bocce, and other outdoor games. Chill out, the summer is here.
